BPUB’s Touch-a-Truck Draws Over 840 Attendees to Children’s Museum
The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) held its first-ever Touch-a-Truck event Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Children’s Museum of Brownsville (CMOB), attracting more than 840 visitors.
The event provided an opportunity for children and their families to learn more about BPUB and get up close with the trucks and equipment BPUB crews use daily. With 17 informational booths staffed by BPUB personnel, attendees explored the utility’s programs and initiatives designed to
enhance their daily lives. The highlight of the event was the opportunity for a few lucky attendees to ascend in a bucket truck, giving them a first-hand view of a BPUP line worker’s perspective.
“We’re grateful to everyone who was able to join us on Saturday, and for our BPUB and museum staff who made this event a success,” BPUB General Manager & CEO Marilyn D. Gilbert said. “Events like this are vital to connecting with our community and fostering a greater understanding of the essential services we provide.”
Executive Director of CMOB Felipe Peña said, “It was exciting to see such a fantastic turnout and a positive response from our community to our very first Touch-a-Truck. We look forward to working with BPUB in the future to offer more opportunities like this to our Brownsville
families.”
