Electric Service Interruptions
Non-rotating outages are outages not associated with the rotating outages ERCOT initiates to maintain electric grid balance. A non-rotating outage can be related to weather-related equipment failure, downed power lines or equipment maintenance.
BPUB notifies customers through automated messages when there will be a planned outage. When BPUB receives an unplanned outage report, BPUB provides information and updates through our official Facebook and Twitter pages or on our website, depending on the size of the outage. Customers who report the outage using BPUB’s online reporting tool also get updates on their service requests via email or text.
When restoring service to a large number of customers, BPUB will first determine if any of them are critical care customers, like a hospital, nursing home or police station. These types of customers generally receive the highest priority. After that, BPUB determines how it can get the most significant number of customers restored the quickest. Once that is complete, BPUB then proceeds to tackle any minor outages that remain.
BPUB offers several ways to report an outage.
