Payment Options
BPUB offers many options to make paying your bill more manageable. You may pay your bill online. Please read the field collections and returned check policies.
Notice: Change in Merchant Service Charge Coming October 2024
Starting October 1, 2024, all credit/debit card transactions will incur a minimum credit card merchant service charge of $2.50 or 1.95%, whichever is greater. To avoid this fee, customers can pay electronically using E-check or enrolling in ACH.
Payments made through the automated phone system will be subject to a $0.95 third-party payment-processing surcharge.
For additional information, please visit our frequently asked questions below.
Pay Online
BPUB's payment processor, InvoiceCloud, provides multiple online payment options for one-time payments, scheduled payments, pay-by-text, and Auto-Pay payments using a checking account (e-check) or credit/debit cards. Credit/Debit cards have a maximum limit of $1,000 per transaction. To pay online, you must first log on to your BPUB account for any payment except the one-time express payments.
AutoPay
Auto Pay allows customers to pay their utility bills without the hassle of waiting in line, writing a check, or rushing to pay the bill at the last minute. Auto Pay allows customers to set up automatic payments from a credit/debit card or a checking account. The $1,000 credit/debit card limit per transaction applies to these payments, too, so if your monthly bill exceeds that threshold, we recommend using a checking account for the automatic payment. If you register a debit/credit card and the total due on your invoice is greater than $1,000.00, you will need to process another transaction.
Credit Card
Customers may use credit cards when paying through our website, automatic phone system, or in person at the office. BPUB accepts VISA, Master Card, Discover, and American Express. Transaction limits apply as mentioned above.
Utility Assistance Programs
If a customer experiences a problematic financial situation, BPUB has multiple partnerships with agencies that provide utility assistance based on guidelines provided by federal, state, or local programs. We encourage you to contact any agencies listed below to determine if you qualify for assistance.

Phone Payments
Invoice Cloud provides one-time phone payments through the BPUB automated phone system. These payments are processed immediately at no charge to you; however, there are two monthly transactions with limits of $10,000 for electronic checks and $500 for credit/debit cards. Please dial (956) 983-6121 and follow the Customer Service Menu prompts. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Note: Customers are always permitted to pay amounts less than the current balance due but are responsible for contacting Customer Service to avoid disconnection. Customers may request an extension using our phone system or speak directly to a Customer Solutions Representative.
Payment Stations
BPUB has 19 payment stations throughout Brownsville; some of these stations include HEB, Lopez, and El Globo food stores.
Note: BPUB processes payments a day after they are paid. We accept payments for amounts less than the total amount. Late fees are assessed with the next month's bill.
U.S. Mail
You may remit payment through the U.S. Mail in the return envelope provided by BPUB or in an envelope addressed to:
Brownsville PUB
P.O. Box 660566
Dallas, TX 75266-0566
BPUB processes payments through the Wells Fargo processing center in Dallas. Please mail your payments five days before the past due date to allow for post office delays. Payments are processed and applied on the day received, not the postmark date.
DropBox
[Located at our Administration Building - 1425 Robinhood Dr.]
BPUB removed the drive-thru dropbox to serve you better and placed a drop slot under the drive-up kiosk. We have a walk-up drop box at the front of the main building. When using dropbox, we encourage you always to include your bill stub and BPUB account number on the check or money order.
Note: Payments dropped off after 3:00 p.m. will be processed the following business day. To avoid disconnection, customers with payment arrangements/extensions or pending disconnect orders should not use dropbox on the date listed as the disconnect date.
Please do not leave cash in the dropbox for your protection and the safety of our staff.
Drive-Up
As an added convenience, you can use one of five drive-thru lanes open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., located behind the BPUB Administration Building.
Field Collections
BPUB field personnel do not accept payments as they approach a service location to disconnect services.
Returned Checks
Payment for returned checks is due on or before the first day after the issuance of the "Notice of a Returned Check" by BPUB. Returned checks not paid within ten days are subject to disconnection.
