BPUB Prepares for Beryl Ahead of Holiday Weekend
The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) is proactively monitoring weather conditions and preparing its teams and infrastructure to maintain service reliability and respond swiftly to the potential impacts of Beryl. Currently classified as a major hurricane, Beryl is expected to weaken to a tropical storm by the time it reaches our area.
Weather forecasts indicate Beryl will bring heavy rainfall and potential strong winds to our service area over the Fourth of July weekend.
In preparation for this weather event, BPUB has taken the following measures:
- Monitoring weather forecasts and coordinating preparedness efforts across all departments.
- Reviewing emergency procedures and ensuring all vehicles and equipment are fueled and/or charged.
- Additional personnel have been placed on standby and are ready to deploy as needed.
“The safety of our customers and the reliability of our services remain our top priorities,” BPUB General Manager and CEO Marilyn D. Gilbert said. “With Beryl approaching, we are actively taking steps to minimize any potential impacts. We encourage our customers to use the long weekend to prepare for the storm.”
BPUB urges customers to take the following precautions:
- Stay Informed: Monitor BPUB’s official channels for updates on service disruptions and restoration efforts.
- Report Outages: In case of power outages, customers should report them at https://assist.brownsville-pub.com or by calling 956-983-6300.
- Emergency Preparedness: Have an emergency kit ready with essentials such as food, water, medications and pet supplies.
BPUB will continue to closely monitor the weather and provide updates as necessary. For the latest information, visit www.brownsville-pub.com or follow BPUB on social media.
