BPUB Recognized as a Reliable Public Power Provider
The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) has earned a diamond-level Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3)® designation from the American Public Power Association with a perfect score, recognizing the utility for providing reliable and safe electric service to the Brownsville community.
The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. Criteria include sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. BPUB joins more than 250 public power utilities nationwide that hold the RP3 designation. This marks the fourth time BPUB has received a diamond-level RP3 designation.

BPUB linemen play a critical role in keeping the lights on in Brownsville, demonstrating the dedication and expertise behind the utility’s diamond-level RP3 designation and perfect score.
“Receiving an RP3 designation is a great honor and a testament to the work these utilities are doing to follow industry best practices,” Chair of APPA’s RP3 Review Panel and General Manager at Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, Jeremy Ash said. “These designees have distinguished themselves as committed to pursuing excellence and perpetual improvement for the benefit of their communities.”
“Reliable and safe electric service is at the core of everything we do at BPUB,” BPUB General Manager and CEO Marilyn Gilbert said. “Earning the RP3 diamond-level designation with a perfect score is a powerful reflection of the dedication, expertise and commitment of our entire team. I am incredibly proud of the people whose hard work ensures our community can rely on us every day.”
