Solar Car Race
Put your engineering skills to the test in the Solar Car Race! Students in grades 6–12 can race BPUB-supplied solar car kits in two exciting heats. Compete for trophies and gift cards awarded to the fastest cars in each heat. Advance registration required, so sign up and get ready to power up your STEM passion!
Prizes for each heat include:

Costume Contest
Show off your creativity in the costume contest! Open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Costumes must be family-friendly and themed around essential utility services—think water wizards, electric engineers, linemen! Judged on crowd excitement, so bring your best look and community spirit!
Prizes for each category include:

All Attendees Must Follow These Rules
- Stay with your group - Children must be supervised by adults at all times
- Follow all posted signs and barriers - Do not enter restricted areas
- Listen to BPUB staff and volunteers - Their instructions are for your safety
- Walk, don't run - Keep pathways clear for others
- Report any accidents or concerns immediately to event staff
- No climbing on vehicles, equipment, or barriers unless specifically permitted
- Wear closed-toe shoes recommended for all activities
- Stay hydrated - Water stations available throughout the event
Touch-A-Truck Activity Safety
- Wait for staff permission before touching or entering vehicles
- No climbing on equipment unless specifically allowed and supervised
- Keep fingers away from moving parts, sharp edges, and pinch points
- One family at a time per vehicle to avoid overcrowding
- Parents must supervise children at all times during vehicle exploration
- No food or drinks near equipment
Listen to equipment operators who will explain safe areas to explore - Follow Bucket Truck Rides Safety Guidelines if selected to participate in a bucket truck ride.
