BPUB Rotating Outage Update for Brownsville Country Club

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The following is an update on Brownsville Country Club being impacted by rotating outages. BPUB will send bulletins out as the information is received. Please understand that this information can change quickly.

With the current rotating outages and state-wide emergency, customers may experience a prolonged outage. The current state-wide emergency stems from the ongoing, prolonged and widespread frigid weather occurring across the state. This is causing the state electric system to be strained by high demand and low operating reserves. The rotating outages will continue until ERCOT instructs BPUB to discontinue.

BPUB is asking consumers in the Brownsville Country Club area to curtail electric usage by turning off electric heaters and other large equipment. Customers are encouraged to turn down their thermostats by a few degrees and avoid using any non-essential appliances or lighting during this time. This will help avoid a secondary surge, which may result in a prolonged outage.

BPUB recommends the following to conserve electricity:

  • Turn down thermostats to 68-degrees.
  • Close shades and blinds to reduce the amount of heat lost through windows.
  • Turn off and unplug non-essential lights and appliances.
  • Avoid using large appliances (i.e., ovens, washing machines, etc.).
  • Wear warm, comfortable clothing

BPUB will keep providing information throughout the emergency. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.
