BPUB General Manager & CEO Joins TPPA Board

Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) General Manager & CEO Marilyn D. Gilbert recently joined the Texas Public Power Association (TPPA) as a board member.

TPPA is a group that represents the interests of public power providers in Texas. TPPA provides a unified voice for members concerning state and national issues; advocate on legislative and regulatory issues; offers electric utility education opportunities; promotes the exchange of ideas and experiences; facilitates collaboration among member systems; and operates a resource center for research and technical assistance.

“Brownsville has always been an important Texas Public Power Association member. This group represents 72 municipally owned utilities, who serve their communities, neighbor to neighbor. We are excited to have Marilyn Gilbert join our board, with her strong background, and have her continue to bring Brownsville’s perspectives to TPPA and to state leadership,” said Mike Wittler, President of Texas Public Power Association and General Manager and CEO of Kerrville Public Utility Board.

TPPA is governed by a 20-member Board of Directors and maintains offices in Austin.

“I’m excited to take up this position as Board Member for the Brownsville Public Utilities Board. I want to represent the best interests of BPUB’s service territory along with those of all Texas municipally owned utilities,” said Gilbert.

TPPA Board Members serve staggered three-year terms.
