The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) has created a world of options to make paying your bill easier. You may pay your bill online. Please read the field collections and returned check policies.
BPUB is pleased to announce a new partner, Invoice Cloud. Invoice Cloud provides multiple online payment options for one time payments, scheduled payments, pay-by-text and Auto-Pay payments using a checking account (e-check) or credit/debit cards. These payments are processed immediately at no charge to you. There is, however, a two transactions per month with limits of $10,000 for electronic checks and $500 for credit/debit cards. In order to pay online, you must first log on to your BPUB account for any type of payment except the one time express payments.
Utility Assistance Programs
If you or your family find yourselves in a difficult situation, BPUB has multiple partnerships with agencies who provide utility assistance based on guidelines provided by federal, state or local programs with various funding sources. We encourage you to reach out to any of the agencies listed below to determine if you qualify for assistance.

Invoice Cloud provides one-time phone payments through the BPUB automated phone system. These payments are processed immediately at no charge to you; however, there is a two transactions per month with limits of $10,000 for electronic checks and $500 for credit/debit cards. Please dial (956) 983-6121 and follow the Customer Service Menu prompts. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Note: Customers are always permitted to pay amounts less than the current balance due, but are responsible for contacting Customer Service to avoid disconnection. Customer may request an extension by using our phone system or speaking directly to a Customer Solutions Representative.
Auto Pay allows customers to pay their utility bills without the hassle of waiting in line, writing a check or rushing to pay the bill at the last minute. Auto Pay allows the customer to setup automatic payments from a credit/debit card or a checking account. The $500 credit/debit card limit applies to these payments too, so if your monthly bill exceeds that threshold we recommend using a checking account for the automatic payment.
Customers may use credit cards when paying through our website, automatic phone system, or in person at the office. BPUB accepts VISA, Master Card, and Discover. Transaction limits apply as mentioned above.
BPUB has 20 payment stations throughout Brownsville, some of these stations include HEB, Lopez and El Globo food stores. A detailed list and map of the authorized payment stations are available.
Note: Payments are processed on the day after they are paid. Payments are accepted for amounts less than the full amount. Late fees are assessed with the next month's bill.

Payments are processed by the Wells Fargo processing center in Dallas so please mail your payments at least five days before the due date to allow for post office delays. Payments are processed and applied on the day received, not the postmark date.

To better serve you, our drive thru drop box was removed, and a drop slot has been placed under the drive up kiosk. We have a walk-up drop box located at the front of the main building. When using the drop box, we encourage you to always include your bill stub along with their BPUB account number on the check or money order.
Note: Payments dropped off after 3:00 p.m. will be processed the following business day. To avoid disconnection, customers with payment arrangements/extensions or pending disconnect orders should not use the drop box on the date listed as the disconnect date.
For your protection and the safety of our staff, please do not leave cash in the drop box.
As an added convenience, you can use one of five drive-thru lanes which are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Drive-up is located behind the BPUB Administration Building.
BPUB now has multiple payment kiosks located in the Customer Service lobby at the BPUB Administration Building. The indoor kiosks accepts cash, checks or credit/debit cards, while the outdoor kiosk accepts only checks or credit/debit cards, provides a receipt, and processes payments immediately. Transactions limits apply for credit/debit cards as mentioned above. For fastest processing, please bring your bill stub, account number or Account Access Card with you when using the kiosk.
We issue Account Access Cards in the Customer Service Department during normal business hours:

BPUB field personnel do not accept payments as they approach a service location for disconnection of services.
Payment for returned checks is due on or before the first day after the issuance of the "Notice of a Returned Check" by BPUB. Returned checks not paid within the 10-day period are subject to disconnection.
