Follow the numbers in the diagram below to learn how electricity is made.

1. FUEL SOURCES
Fuel sources such as natural gas, coal, oil and uranium are burned to produce energy. (BPUB uses natural gas and coal to generate electricity.)

2. STEAM
Steam is created and is forced into a turbine to spin it.

3. TURBINE
The turbine cranks a shaft linked to a magnet.

4. GENERATOR
The spinning creates electricity. It is transferred to copper coils.

5. ELECTRICITY
Electricity travels via power lines into your home.
