Community Outreach

Beyond providing award-winning utility services to the area, the Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) is an active community partner through event sponsorships and employee volunteerism.

BPUB is frequently represented by its employees and their families at community-wide events, including the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life, the March of Dimes Foundation’s March for Babies and the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk.

BPUB is also present at city of Brownsville events, including the annual Hurricane Awareness Fair which promotes education, safety and the well-being of the community.

BPUB takes pride in its sponsorship and participation at events that celebrate local culture and traditions, including the annual Charro Days Parades and the Christmas Parade.

In 2011, BPUB restarted the Project SHARE Golf Tournament, which helps raise scholarships to help area high school students obtain a higher education. Project SHARE also assists qualifying families in need of help with their utility bill payments.

BPUB employees also see the need to help their community on a more personal level. During the month of November, BPUB partners with local organizations that provide Christmas gifts to less fortunate children. Employees are encouraged to “adopt an angel” and help collect gifts. BPUB is proud to support events that improve the quality of life of the community it serves.
